Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in connection with reports on military cargo transportation (July 8, 2006)
In respect to reports published in a number of media on illegal delivery of military cargo by Ilyishin-76, bearing the Kazakh flag, to Mogadishu airport, Somali, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is empowered to state that the Republic of Kazakhstan has no connection to this fact and never delivered any weapons to this country.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is strictly following its commitments at the international arena, including UN resolutions No. 733 and 775 (1992) implementing a general and complete embargo on all deliveries of weapons and military equipment to Somalia.
